The Stewardship of Time

Jeremiah 17:19-27

  • Rev. Dr. Joe Moore
  • November 2, 2025

This morning’s service centered on the theme of time as part of the church’s stewardship season. The pastor reminded the congregation that stewardship is about more than money—it’s about offering every part of our lives to God, including our time, talents, treasures, and testimony. Using Jeremiah 17:19–27, he reflected on the importance of keeping the Sabbath as a divine gift, not a burden. God instituted the Sabbath to help His people manage their time well, rest in His presence, and trust Him rather than their own efforts. The pastor confessed that in our busy world, we often fill every moment and lose sight of this sacred rhythm of rest. He encouraged everyone to set aside a true Sabbath each week—a day of worship, rest, fellowship, and reflection—free from distractions and work. In doing so, we honor the Creator who rested and find refreshment for our souls. True rest, he said, is not found in productivity but in Christ Himself, who invites us to lay down our burdens and find peace in Him.
