The Ordinary Mission Field: The Neighborhood and the Community
Micah 4:1-5
- Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller
- October 12, 2025
Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller preached on how God uses our community and everyday encounters to shape us into faithful disciples. Drawing from Micah 4 and 6:8, he reminded the congregation that God’s vision for His kingdom is one of peace, justice, and mercy—where every person lives unafraid under their own vine and fig tree. He urged believers to live out this vision by doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God, taking Him seriously in all aspects of life. Dr. Fuller explained that true discipleship grows through awareness, humility, and action—learning to see people as Jesus saw them, to serve them with compassion, and to act on their behalf. He challenged the church to recognize that God places difficult people and situations in our paths not by accident, but as opportunities to make us more like Christ. Loving our neighbors, especially the overlooked or uncomfortable, is both the way God changes the world through us and the way He changes us through the world. Ultimately, discipleship in the ordinary means letting God shape our hearts for His kingdom right where we live and serve.
