The Ordinary Mission Field: School

Daniel 1:3-8

  • Rev. Scott Simpson
  • September 28, 2025

Rev. Scott Simpson preached about discipleship in the ordinary area of school, focusing on how fear and faith shape our lives. Drawing from Daniel 1, he showed how Daniel and his friends, though young and far from home, resolved to remain faithful to God instead of giving in to King Nebuchadnezzar’s schemes. Rev. Simpson reminded us that fear is one of our oldest enemies—it cripples creativity, disrupts families, and blocks faith—but God calls us to stand firm with conviction. Like Daniel, we must know what we believe, surround ourselves with faithful friends, resist the schemes of the world, and trust in God’s care. Though culture may pressure us to compromise, God honors those who honor Him. Daniel and his friends were blessed with wisdom, strength, and influence because they chose faithfulness. The sermon ended with encouragement that nothing—not fear, failure, or even death—can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
