The Ascension of the King
The Acts of the Apostles Acts 1:6-11
- Whit Anderson
- May 17, 2026
Whit Anderson’s sermon focused on the Ascension of Jesus and how it gives Christians clarity, purpose, and power for living out their faith. Preaching from Acts 1, he explained that the disciples expected Jesus to restore Israel immediately, but instead Jesus called them to join His mission of building God’s kingdom throughout the whole world. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would come with power to help believers faithfully live as witnesses for Christ in their daily lives. Whit reminded the church that the Ascension was not Jesus abandoning His people, but Jesus returning to His heavenly throne where He reigns as the true King over all things. Because Jesus rules and intercedes for His people, Christians can trust Him to guide, strengthen, forgive, and provide for them. The sermon also emphasized the promise that Jesus will return again in glory, giving believers hope and confidence as they serve Him now. Whit closed by encouraging the church to live with purpose, trusting that their lives matter because Christ is reigning, building His kingdom, and one day coming back for His people.
