Simply Amazing: Saved by Grace - Modern
The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians Ephesians 2:1-10
- Ben Henderson
- June 7, 2026
Ben Henderson’s sermon on Ephesians 2:1–10 emphasized the depth of humanity’s sin, the even greater depth of God’s grace, and the life-changing power of the gospel. He explained that apart from Christ, people are spiritually dead in sin and unable to save themselves, trapped by the influences of the flesh, the world, and the devil. Yet the turning point of the passage comes in the words “But God,” which reveal God’s rich mercy and great love for sinners. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God provides salvation as a gift of grace, reconciling believers to Himself and rescuing them from both sin and judgment. Ben stressed that salvation is entirely God’s work and leaves no room for boasting, but instead produces humility, gratitude, and assurance. Using powerful stories of sacrificial love and forgiveness from a World War II prisoner-of-war camp, he illustrated how people transformed by grace are empowered to serve, forgive, and love others in extraordinary ways. The sermon concluded with a challenge for listeners to honestly confront their sin, fully receive God’s grace, and allow the gospel to reshape every area of their lives.
