Chris Johnson, this sermon explored Jesus’ nighttime conversation with Nicodemus in John 3 and the meaning of being “born again.” The message reminded listeners that Nicodemus was a respected and religious man who still came to Jesus with deep spiritual questions and a longing for truth. The pastors explained that Jesus calls people to lift their eyes above earthly success, fear, and distraction and to trust in the kingdom of God. Using the story of Moses lifting the bronze serpent in the wilderness, they showed how Jesus would also be lifted up so that all who look to Him in faith may receive eternal life. The sermon emphasized that salvation is not something we earn through effort, knowledge, or status, but something we receive by trusting completely in Christ. Listeners were encouraged to bring their doubts, struggles, and “snakes” of pain and distraction to Jesus, who meets people exactly where they are. The message closed with the reminder that the church’s mission is to lift up Jesus Christ so the world may know His love, grace, and saving power.
