Extraordinary People: Joseph & Mary

  • Rev. Dr. John Kaiser
  • December 14, 2025

Rev. Dr. John Kaiser continues the Advent series on the “Extra Ordinary” by focusing on the extraordinary faith of Mary and Joseph, two people who appeared ordinary but were chosen by God for a miraculous purpose. Drawing from Luke and Matthew, the sermon highlights Mary’s humble trust in God’s promise and Joseph’s obedient courage in accepting his role as Jesus’ earthly father. The message weaves in the celebration of Hanukkah to remind us that God brings light, hope, and faithfulness even in dark and uncertain times. Through their lineage and obedience, Mary and Joseph became part of God’s long-awaited plan to bring salvation through Jesus, Emmanuel, “God with us.” Their story shows that God often works through ordinary people who are willing to trust Him completely. The sermon challenges believers today to surrender fear and uncertainty, trust God’s promises, and boldly follow where God is calling them, knowing that nothing is impossible with God.
