Rev. Larry Coulter reminds us that every human heart asks three questions: Is there a God? Is He knowable? And does He care about me? In Jesus Christ, we see that the answer to all three is yes. Focusing on Jesus’ words in John 14 and 16, he teaches that Christian community is where we learn to love one another through encouragement, burden-bearing, and comfort. True community does not deny trouble but honestly faces it, knowing that “in this world you will have tribulation.” Yet we are not alone, for Christ promises His presence and declares that He has overcome the world. Rev. Coulter shares how, in his own grief, the faith of Christian friends carried him when he could not believe for himself. In this way, the church becomes a place where we repeat Christ’s promises to one another and courageously live out His peace together.
