Do Not Be Afraid

The Gospel According to Matthew Matthew 28:1-10

  • Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller
  • April 5, 2026

Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller’s Easter sermon centers on the truth that the resurrection is not just something to celebrate, but something to live out. Reflecting on his visit to the empty tomb, he explains that while it is meaningful, Jesus is no longer there—He is alive and calling us to go out into the world. The repeated command “do not be afraid” reminds us that the resurrection is real and changes everything, especially our fear of death. Because Jesus conquered death, it no longer has the final word, and believers can live with hope instead of fear. Fuller emphasizes that fear—especially the fear of loss—keeps us from fully living, but Christ’s victory sets us free from that bondage. He challenges listeners not to remain “stuck in the tomb” of past wounds, habits, and fears, but to step into new life. Easter is not only about eternal life someday, but about living abundantly now. Ultimately, the message is a call to follow Jesus beyond the tomb, living boldly in faith, love, and freedom without fear.
