Discipleship of the Word and the World

  • Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller
  • October 26, 2025

In this sermon, the Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller reflected on Psalm 19 and the idea of “discipleship in the ordinary,” learning to follow Jesus through the everyday moments of life. He explained that God reveals Himself in two ways: through creation, called general revelation, and through Scripture and Jesus Christ, known as special revelation. The beauty and order of nature testify to God’s glory, but they cannot tell us the full truth of who He is—only His Word and His Son can do that. Creation trains us to see God’s handiwork, teaches us humility, awakens gratitude and joy, and calls us to be good stewards of the world He made. He shared a personal story about worrying over church finances until a sudden gift reminded him to “consider the sparrows” and trust God’s provision. He urged the congregation to let their time outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, or walking—be moments that draw them closer to God rather than distractions from Him. The message ended with a prayer asking that creation would always point our hearts back to the Creator and His Word.
