An Extraordinary Night - 2:30 PM Communion Service

  • Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller
  • December 24, 2025

Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller proclaims that Christmas is God’s great declaration of “Behold—I am doing a new thing.” Drawing from Matthew’s account of the Magi and Isaiah’s promise, he reminds us that the incarnation was not a recycled solution, but a truly new act of grace: God becoming flesh and dwelling among us. In Jesus Christ, the eternal God entered our ordinary lives to bring light into deep darkness and hope where human effort had failed. Yet, like the people of Bethlehem, we often miss what God is doing because of distraction, fear, or our attachment to familiar “former things.” The sermon invites us to reflect on what new thing God may be doing in our lives right now, even if we cannot yet perceive it. Christmas, he says, is not only about Christ’s birth long ago, but about Christ being born anew in us today. As we behold Him, we discover that He is also holding us.
