How to recognize and respond to emails pretending to come from FPC pastors or staff
Some members of the FPC family have received scam emails that appear to come from Pastor Bob or another church pastor or staff member. These messages may ask for benevolence assistance, gift cards, money, or an immediate reply.
These emails are not from Pastor Bob or the church.
Please remember:
- Do not click links or open unexpected attachments.
- Do not reply to the message.
- Do not send money, gift cards, gift-card numbers, passwords, or other personal information.
- Check the sender’s full email address—not just the name displayed.
- If you are unsure, contact the church office directly using a phone number you already know is genuine.
Scammers often create messages that sound urgent or personal. A request to act immediately, keep something secret, purchase gift cards, or send money is a warning sign.
If you receive one of these messages, you may report it to the church office and then delete it. When in doubt, pause and verify before taking action.
Grace and peace,
Bob
