KEYS - Doug Price
Join us as we welcome Doug Price, a model train and railroad enthusiast. His fascination may have started with overnight family train trips from Lubbock to Houston for the holidays. His grandmother would take him down to the train station to watch the Texas & Pacific passenger train stop in Colorado City. He received an American Flyer S-gauge model train set and spent hours putting together track plans and running the train. As he grew older, he started modeling in smaller scales.
Fast forward to the spring of 2018 when an invitation arrived for the one-eighth scale Comanche & Indian Gap Railroad "Spring Fling" near Priddy. Surprisingly, he learned that he was related to the Pickard family that was hosting the event. Since that introduction to "ride on" scale trains, he has been active in the Southwestern Live Steamers and attended many meets in various states. In the spring of 2024, he purchased Pat McCarthy's Big Creek & Southern Railroad, located southeast of Kansas City.
